Apply For Neighborhood Leadership Institute

Applications are now being accepted for the Dayton Neighborhood Leadership Institute. The Neighborhood Leadership Institute is an educational experience that gives participants insight into Dayton’s history, its governmental process and the inner workings of its neighborhoods. It is a unique partnership project sponsored by the City of Dayton, Sinclair Community College, Greater Dayton RTA and the Neighborhood Institute Alumni Association.

Up to twenty-five participants are selected to participate in the NLI. Any adult resident of Dayton may apply. There is no charge for participation in the program. However, the class is limited to 25 people. The deadline for applications is February 8, 2013.

The program has four objectives:

  • To broaden the participants’ understanding of the community;
  • To expand the pool of skilled neighborhood leaders;
  • To encourage and assist the establishment of networks among neighborhoods and their leaders; and
  • To enhance the ability of neighborhoods to resolve problems on their own or in cooperation with other neighborhoods and/or institutions.

The program consists of 14 evening and/or Saturday sessions over a three-month period. Presenters include current neighborhood, business and government leaders. Each participant must attend all of the session in order to be certified as having completed the program.

For more information, please see the Neighborhood Institute brochure, application form, and a tentative class schedule.
